Istanbul, May. 6 (SANA) Turkish Trade Minister Ömer Bolat said on Wednesday that Türkiye’s defense and aerospace exports had risen by 28 per cent in the first four months of the year compared to the same period last year, exceeding $2.8 billion.
Speaking at SAHA Expo 2026 International Defense, Aerospace and Space Exhibition, which is being held at the Istanbul Expo Centre from 5 to 9 May, Bolat said that the exhibition showcases Türkiye’s latest developments in defense, industry, technology and communications, and is backed by the Ministry of Trade.
According to Anadolu Agency, Turkish companies participating in the event are expected to sign contracts worth over $10 billion. Mr.Bolat noted that defense and aerospace exports have surged from $248 million two decades ago to over $10 billion annually in recent years, reaching record levels last year.
He added that there is strong international demand for Turkish defense products and that the exhibition is being attended by military officials, procurement delegations and industry experts from over 120 countries, as well as around 1,700 companies, including 263 foreign firms.\
