Washington, May 2 (SANA) U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen on Saturday welcomed Syria’s progress in the 2026 Press Freedom Index, issued last Thursday by Reporters Without Borders.
Shaheen said in a post on X: “I am pleased to see that press freedom in Syria has significantly improved under the new Syrian government, and I will continue working with the government to ensure further progress toward building a stable and prosperous Syria for all.”
Syria advanced 36 places to 141st globally out of 180 countries, up from 177th last year, marking the largest single-year improvement by any country since the report was first issued 25 years ago.
