Moscow, April 29 (SANA) Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed, in a phone call on Wednesday with U.S. President Donald Trump, developments in Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East.
According to Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov, cited by Russia’s Sputnik news agency, the two leaders expressed broadly similar assessments of the situation. Ushakov said Trump believes a deal to end the conflict in Ukraine could be reached soon.
He added that Putin informed Trump that Moscow is ready to announce a ceasefire by Victory Day.
Ushakov said the U.S. president stressed the importance of ending hostilities in Ukraine and expressed readiness to facilitate that through all possible means, noting that his representatives would continue contacts with both Moscow and Kyiv.
The Kremlin aide also said Putin strongly condemned the recent assassination attempt against Trump, rejecting all forms of politically motivated violence.
On the Middle East, Ushakov said Putin considered extending the ceasefire with Iran a positive step that could support stability, create space for negotiations, and contribute to easing tensions.
