Beirut, April 13 (SANA) – Italian Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani, reaffirmed Monday his country’s solidarity with Lebanon and its people amid the challenges and risks facing the country.
Speaking at a press conference following a meeting with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun at Baabda Palace, Tajani expressed hope that talks scheduled to begin Tuesday in Washington would lead to a ceasefire between Lebanon and “Israel.”
According to Lebanon’s National News Agency, Tajani also said Italy is ready to host future negotiations between the two sides in an effort to achieve stability and peace in the region.
The Italian foreign minister stressed his country’s commitment to supporting the Lebanese army, emphasizing that strengthening the military is essential to maintaining stability and safeguarding Lebanon’s territorial integrity.
Tajani also called for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, ensuring freedom of navigation and facilitating global trade, stressing the importance of continued diplomatic efforts to achieve this goal.
Earlier Monday, Tajani wrote on the X platform upon arriving in Lebanon that Italy stands in solidarity with the country following what he described as unacceptable Israeli attacks against civilians.
