Beirut, April 8 (SANA) Lebanese Health Minister Rakan Nasser Eddine announced that more than 89 people were killed and more than 720 others wounded in the initial toll from Israeli attacks on several areas in Lebanon on Wednesday.
In a statement to Al Jazeera, Nasser Eddine said, “The toll is preliminary and not final. We are facing a dangerous Israeli escalation with more than 100 airstrikes, and ambulances are still transporting victims to hospitals.”
The minister called on international organizations to assist the Lebanese health sector in dealing with the repercussions of the Israeli attacks.
Israeli warplanes launched their largest attacks on Lebanon since March 2nd, targeting Beirut, areas in the Bekaa Valley, and southern Lebanon, just hours after the United States and Iran announced a two-week truce as a prelude to ending the war, and Pakistan declared that the truce included the Lebanese front.
The Lebanese Presidency condemned the Israeli airstrikes, calling on the international community to assume its responsibilities to stop them and put an end to this approach that threatens security and stability in the region.
