Trump threatens tariffs on countries supplying weapons to Iran

Washington, April 8 (SANA) U.S. President Donald Trump said the United States would impose tariffs on countries that provide military weapons to Iran, in a move aimed at increasing pressure on Tehran and its partners.

In a post on the Truth Social platform, Trump said that any country supplies military weapons to Iran will immediately be subjected to a 50% tariff on all goods sold to the United States stating that there will be no exceptions or exemptions.

He also reiterated U.S. demands regarding Iran’s nuclear program, saying: “There will be no uranium enrichment,” adding that the United States would work with Iran to remove what he described as nuclear materials under strict monitoring.

Trump said Washington is prepared to engage in talks with Tehran to ease tariffs and sanctions, adding that the United States would “work closely” with Iran.

The remarks come after the United States and Iran agreed to a two-week ceasefire, reached shortly before a deadline set by Trump for Tehran to accept terms related to de-escalation and the reopening of key regional routes.
