Seoul, April 3 (SANA) South Korea said Thursday it hopes the Middle East will soon return to peace and stability, as tensions in the region continue to raise global concern.
Presidential spokesperson Kang Yu-jung said in a statement, cited by Yonhap News Agency, that Seoul is “closely monitoring” developments in the Middle East and hopes conditions will improve rapidly.
She added that the government will work with the international community to safeguard South Korean nationals and businesses in the region, while helping maintain stable energy supply chains and ensuring freedom of maritime navigation.
Meanwhile, South Korean President Lee Jae-myung on Thursday urged the National Assembly to swiftly approve a supplementary budget aimed at mitigating the economic fallout from the regional crisis. He stressed the need for exceptional measures to address potential impacts on the domestic economy.
