Doha, Apr. 1 (SANA) UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said in a statement published on its website on Wednesday that it had received reports of a commercial tanker being hit by a projectile of unknown origin while transiting waters north of Doha.

According to the statement, the incident occurred approximately 17 nautical miles off the Qatari capital, with the projectile striking the vessel’s port side and causing structural damage to its hull.

UKMTO confirmed that no injuries were reported among crew members and that there had been no indication of environmental damage following the strike.

The incident comes after a similar report issued by UKMTO on April 12, when a container ship was hit by an “unidentified projectile” off the coast of the United Arab Emirates, resulting in a small onboard fire.
