Riyadh, March 31 (SANA) Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Defense said Tuesday its air defenses intercepted and destroyed 10 drones in the past few hours, targeting the Riyadh region.
Defense Ministry spokesperson Maj. Gen. Turki al-Maliki said Saudi forces shot down the drones before they reached their targets.
In a separate statement, the ministry said it also intercepted seven ballistic missiles from Iran aimed at Riyadh early Tuesday.
Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defense said two people were injured after debris from an intercepted drone fell in Al-Kharj Governorate, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA). Debris landed on several homes and vehicles in a residential neighborhood, causing minor injuries and limited material damage. Authorities said standard procedures were implemented.
The incidents come amid escalating drone and missile attacks in the Gulf region, linked to the ongoing U.S.-Israel-Iran conflict since late February.
