Gulf countries intercept Iranian missiles and drones amid regional escalation
UAE air defense

Capitals, March 29 (SANA) Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates said on Sunday that their air defenses intercepted missiles and drones over their territories amid ongoing tensions involving the United States, Israel and Iran.

A spokesman for the Saudi Ministry of Defense said a ballistic missile targeting Riyadh was destroyed, along with five drones that entered Saudi airspace.

Kuwait’s military said its air defenses engaged incoming missile and drone threats, noting that sounds of explosions reported in parts of the country were linked to interception operations.

The UAE Ministry of Defense said its forces countered ballistic and cruise missiles as well as drones, adding that the activity was part of ongoing attacks originating from Iran.

The incidents follow an escalation since Feb. 28, when U.S. and Israeli strikes targeted Iran, prompting Tehran to respond with missile and drone attacks against Israel and other Gulf states.
