Ankara, Mar.24 (SANA) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that the closure of the strategic Strait of Hormuz has plunged thrown the global economy into a grave state of disruption.
Speaking on Tuesday after chairing a cabinet meeting, Erdogan said, according to Anadolu Agency: “We absolutely do not want this war to escalate into a war of attrition between countries of the region,” stressing the importance of maintaining Strait of Hormuz outside the conflict zone.
He urged for terminating the war before it generates long-term damage to the global economy that could require years to recover. Erdogan also emphasized the need to initiate dialogue and commence effective negotiations that lead to tangible outcomes.
“Once again, our region has been designated as an arena for conflict within the emerging global order, just as it was a century ago,” he said.
Erdogan noted that Türkiye’s goal of a “terror-free region” represents a barrier against attempts to sow division among Turks, Kurds, Arabs, and Iranians.
The Turkish president reiterated his call to halt what he described as massacres committed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, stressing the need for immediate action to achieve regional and humanitarian peace.
“The past 25 days have demonstrated that the world is paying the price of Israel’s war. It is Netanyahu’s war for power, yet eight billion people are suffering its consequences,” Erdogan said.
He further demanded for not allowing Israel’s “rigid and arrogant stance” to undermine diplomatic solutions.
