Abu Dhabi/Manama, March 22 (SANA) The United Arab Emirates and Bahrain said Sunday their air defense systems intercepted missiles and drones launched from Iran, as the U.S.-Israeli war against Iran entered its fourth week.
The UAE Ministry of Defense said its air defenses intercepted four ballistic missiles and 25 drones targeting the country.
In a statement carried by the Emirates News Agency, the ministry said that since the start of the conflict, UAE systems have intercepted 345 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles and 1,773 drones.
The ministry said the attacks had killed two members of the armed forces and six civilians of various nationalities, while 160 others were injured.
Separately, Bahrain’s Defense Force Command said its air defense systems had intercepted and destroyed 145 missiles and 246 drones targeting the kingdom since the start of Iranian attacks.
In a statement carried by the Bahrain News Agency, the command said the use of ballistic missiles and drones against civilian areas and private property constitutes a “flagrant violation” of international humanitarian law and the United Nations Charter, and poses a direct threat to regional peace and security.
Authorities in Bahrain urged residents to exercise caution, avoid affected areas and suspicious objects, and follow official media for updates, adding that defense systems continue to monitor and respond to threats.
The developments come amid continued missile and drone attacks affecting several Arab and regional states, causing casualties and damage to infrastructure as regional tensions escalate following the outbreak of conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran.
