Baghdad, March 22 (SANA) Iraq’s Civil Aviation Authority said Sunday it had extended the closure of the country’s airspace to all incoming, outgoing and transit flights for three more days, as it continues to assess the security situation and regional developments.
The Iraqi News Agency cited a statement from the authority saying the extension will remain in effect for 72 hours, from 12 p.m. Sunday until 12 p.m. Wednesday.
The authority said the measure is a temporary precaution aimed at ensuring the safety of air navigation.
It added that the decision is based on ongoing monitoring of the security situation in Iraq and the wider region, and will be reassessed based on developments.
