Kuwait City, March 20 (SANA) Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) said a drone attack targeted the al-Ahmadi refinery early Friday, causing a fire in several units but no casualties.
In a statement carried by the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), KPC said the facility, operated by Kuwait National Petroleum Company, was struck by multiple hostile drones.
Emergency and firefighting teams were deployed to the site and worked to contain the blaze, while some units were shut down as a precaution and safety protocols were activated to protect workers.
KPC said the situation was brought under control quickly, adding that teams continue to monitor conditions to ensure safe and stable operations.
The attack comes amid rising regional tensions, with Iran escalating attacks on infrastructure and energy facilities in Gulf Cooperation Council countries, key suppliers of global oil and gas.
The escalation has raised concerns that the ongoing U.S.-Israeli–Iranian conflict, which began on Feb. 28, could trigger a broader energy crisis and threaten global economic stability.
