Kuwait, March 4 (SANA) – Kuwait strongly condemned the Iranian attacks targeting its territory, which resulted in casualties, and affirmed its right to defend itself and take necessary measures to protect its sovereignty.
The Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported Wednesday that Kuwait sent two identical letters on March 3 to the UN Secretary-General and the President of the UN Security Council regarding what it described as Iranian attacks carried out since February 28.
In the letters, Kuwait said the attacks targeted several civilian facilities and constituted a violation of the country’s sovereignty and airspace, as well as a breach of international law, the UN Charter, and international humanitarian law.
Kuwait indicated that the attacks caused a number of casualties, including two members of the Kuwaiti armed forces and dozens of injuries.
The country reaffirmed its condemnation of the attacks targeting its territory and other countries in the region, stressing its right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter, and its right to take appropriate measures to protect its territory, airspace, citizens, and residents.
Kuwait also stressed the unity of the Gulf states, noting that the security of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries is indivisible and that any threat to one member state represents a threat to the collective security of all.
It called on the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to clearly condemn the Iranian attacks and take measures to halt what it described as violations undermining regional and international peace and security.
Iran has continued launching missile and drone attacks on several Gulf states following the ongoing U.S.-Israeli military strikes against Iran that began on Saturday.
