Ankara, March 3 (SANA) – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said Tuesday that the world is passing through an extremely critical period, stressing that Türkiye does not remain neutral when it comes to regional and humanitarian issues.
Speaking at a public event, Erdoğan said Türkiye stands for peace, stability, justice and development, adding that the principles underpinning the United Nations system have lost much of their credibility amid shifting global power dynamics.
He argued that the post–World War II international order is increasingly fragile, warning that global tensions are deepening as traditional diplomacy weakens and international institutions struggle to maintain effectiveness.
Commenting on the escalation involving Iran, Erdoğan said the region risks sliding into a period dominated by force rather than dialogue. He emphasized that the Turkish government is closely monitoring developments to ensure the safety of its citizens amid the rising tensions.
Since Saturday, exchanges of strikes between the United States and Israel on one side and Iran on the other have intensified, while Iran has launched missile and drone attacks targeting several Gulf states, as well as Jordan and Iraq.
