Kuwait City–Riyadh, March 3 (SANA) U.S. embassies in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait announced temporary closures on Tuesday, a day after they were targeted by Iranian drone attacks, underscoring rising regional tensions amid an intensifying military confrontation between the United States and Israel on one side and Iran on the other.
The U.S. Embassy in Riyadh said it has suspended all consular services, including routine and emergency appointments, noting that a “stay-at-home” advisory for staff in Jeddah, Riyadh and Dhahran remains in effect. The embassy urged U.S. citizens in the Kingdom to avoid visiting its premises until further notice.
In Kuwait, the U.S. Embassy also announced it would close “until further notice,” confirming the cancellation of all consular appointments due to escalating regional tensions.
The two embassies were targeted Monday by Iranian drone attacks that caused minor damage but no injuries, according to diplomatic sources. The strikes come as Tehran continues launching missiles and drones at Gulf states in response to U.S.-Israeli strikes targeting sites inside Iran since Saturday.
