Capitals, March 3 (SANA) Israel launched airstrikes on multiple targets in Iran overnight, including a site linked to the state television broadcaster in Tehran, while Iran responded with a barrage of missiles targeting areas across Israel, officials and media reports said.
Israel’s Channel 12 reported that the Israeli Air Force carried out heavy strikes in central Tehran, including the headquarters of the state television station. The Israeli military said it also targeted missile launchers and air defense systems in western Iran, using hundreds of munitions against dozens of sites.
Air raid sirens sounded for about 40 minutes in several Israeli cities on Monday evening as Iranian missiles were detected, Channel 12 said.
CNN, citing an Israeli official, reported that more than 1,500 members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps were killed in the strikes.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guard said it had shot down a Hermes-type drone in the southern city of Bushehr and downed 21 such drones since the start of the conflict. It added that it launched the 13th wave of an operation it calls “True Promise 4,” targeting Arifjan base in Kuwait and striking what it described as a gathering in the United Arab Emirates that included more than 160 U.S. Marines. The Guard said it also targeted a U.S. base in Kuwait with 10 attack drones.
Explosions were reported in the western Iranian city of Ilam, while a security official in Isfahan province said 47 people had been killed there since the start of U.S.-Israeli strikes. The United Arab Emirates and Qatar said their air defenses intercepted Iranian missiles.
The United States and Israel have continued military operations against Iran since Saturday. On Monday, U.S. President Donald Trump said a broad wave of strikes against Iran would begin soon and could last about four weeks.
