Riyadh, March 2 (SANA) – Saudi Arabia would respond militarily to any Iranian attack targeting its oil facilities, a source close to the government told Agence France-Presse (AFP) on Monday, after a drone incident near the Ras Tanura refinery.
The source said the nature of any response would depend on official assessments of whether the attack was directly ordered by Iranian leadership or resulted from an isolated drone incident.
The source added that Saudi Arabia could target Iranian oil facilities if a coordinated and direct attack against Saudi Aramco is confirmed.
Saudi Aramco temporarily shut down operations at the Ras Tanura refinery earlier in the day as a precaution after drones targeted the surrounding area, causing a limited fire that was quickly contained without injuries or supply disruptions.
The incident comes amid ongoing regional escalation, as Iran continues launching attacks following U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iranian territory since Saturday.
