Ankara, March 2 (SANA) Türkiye has introduced temporary restrictions on passenger movement at its border crossings with Iran, Trade Minister Omer Bolat said Monday, citing recent regional developments.
According to a statement reported by Anadolu Agency, daily passenger crossings between the two countries have been suspended on a reciprocal basis. Türkiye will admit only its own citizens and third-country nationals arriving from Iran, while Iran will allow only its citizens to enter from Türkiye.
Bolat said commercial truck traffic continues in a controlled manner through the three border gates shared by the two countries.
Türkiye and Iran are connected by three land crossings in the eastern provinces of Agri, Van and Hakkari.
The measures come amid escalating exchanges between Israel and the United States on one side and Iran on the other, as well as Iranian missile and drone attacks targeting Gulf states and Jordan since Saturday.
