Damascus, April 17 (SANA) The Turkish Embassy in Damascus on Friday congratulated the Syrian people on the 80th anniversary of Independence Day, highlighting the historical significance of the occasion in the country’s journey toward sovereignty.

In a post on X, the embassy said: “We sincerely congratulate Syria on Liberation Day, observed on April 17. This exceptional day, when independence was achieved in 1946, is firmly etched in the memory of the Syrian people as a powerful symbol of sovereignty, pride, and national will.”

The embassy also expressed its wishes for Syria’s future, stating: “On this meaningful occasion, we wish the brotherly Syrian people a future marked by peace, stability, and prosperity.”

Syria marks Independence Day on April 17 each year, commemorating the departure of the last French soldier in 1946, ending the mandate period that began in 1920.
