Riyadh, Mar. 2 (SANA) The Ministerial Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) strongly condemned Iranian attacks targeting several member states as well as Jordan, describing them as a serious violation of national sovereignty, international law and the principles of good-neighbourly relations.
In a statement issued following its 50th extraordinary virtual meeting on Sunday, the council rejected what it called the Iranian assaults and affirmed full solidarity among GCC countries, stressing that member states stand united in confronting threats to their security and stability.
The council emphasized the importance of dialogue and diplomatic engagement to restore regional security, peace and stability, while calling on the international community to firmly condemn the attacks and urging the UN Security Council to assume its responsibilities in preventing further violations with potential repercussions for regional and international peace.
The statement underlined that any attack against one GCC member constitutes a direct attack against all member states, affirming their legal right to respond and take necessary measures to safeguard sovereignty and national security.
The council also expressed appreciation for countries that voiced support and condemned the attacks, noting international backing for steps taken by GCC states to protect their stability.
Several Gulf countries, including Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Oman, along with Jordan, have been targeted by Iranian missile and drone attacks since Saturday following joint US–Israeli strikes on Iran.
