Doha, Feb. 28 (SANA) Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar, discussed in a phone call Saturday with EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas the latest regional developments and their repercussions on regional and international security and stability.
According to the Qatar News Agency, Al Thani said that targeting Qatari territory with Iranian missiles constitutes a flagrant violation of the country’s sovereignty and contradicts the principles of good neighborliness, adding that it cannot be accepted under any pretext.
He noted that Qatar has consistently sought to distance itself from regional conflicts and worked to facilitate dialogue between Iran and the international community to resolve disputes through peaceful means, calling for an immediate halt to escalation and a return to dialogue to contain the crisis and safeguard regional security.
For her part, Kallas condemned the Iranian missile attack on Qatar, describing it as a clear violation of the country’s sovereignty, airspace, international law and the Charter of the United Nations.
The call came after Iran launched missile attacks on Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan following a joint strike on Iranian territory by the United States and Israel, in a move the targeted countries described as a violation of their sovereignty and a threat to regional stability.
