Palestinian Authority welcomes UN human rights report on Israeli violations

Occupied Jerusalem, Feb. 27 (SANA) The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed a recent UN human rights report documenting war crimes and other violations committed by Israeli forces against Palestinians in the occupied territories, including East Jerusalem.

In a statement via WAFA news agency, the ministry said the report, published by the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), provides evidence that Israel committed “war crimes and crimes against humanity through its attacks on civilians and widespread destruction of homes and infrastructure in Gaza and the West Bank”.

The ministry called on the international community to protect civilians and ensure accountability under international law.

The remarks follow comments by UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk, who told the Human Rights Council in Geneva that Israeli measures in the West Bank and Gaza appear aimed at imposing lasting demographic changes and raise concerns about potential ethnic cleansing.
