Riyadh, Feb. 17 (SANA) Eight Arab and Islamic countries on Tuesday condemned Israel’s decision to classify land in the occupied West Bank as “state land,” describing the move as illegal and a serious escalation.
In a joint statement reported by the Saudi Press Agency, the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Türkiye, Egypt, Indonesia and Pakistan said the step aims to accelerate settlement expansion, confiscate Palestinian land and entrench Israeli control.
They said the move violates international law, including the Fourth Geneva Convention and U.N. Security Council Resolution 2334, and contradicts the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice on the occupied Palestinian territory.
The ministers warned that the measure undermines the two-state solution and prospects for a viable Palestinian state, and could heighten tensions in the region.
They called on the international community to take decisive action to halt the move and ensure respect for international law, reaffirming support for a sovereign Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital.
