London Feb. 10 (SANA) – The United Kingdom criticized Israel’s newly approved measures aimed at expanding and entrenching settlement activity in the occupied West Bank, warning that such steps undermine prospects for peace and regional stability.
In a statement carried by the Palestinian news agency WAFA, the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office said the proposed changes to land administration, enforcement mechanisms, and governance structures in the West Bank would obstruct international efforts to advance a political settlement.
The statement reaffirmed the UK’s long‑standing position rejecting unilateral actions that alter the demographic reality in the occupied territories, stressing London’s commitment to international law and relevant UN resolutions.
The UK called on Israeli authorities to reverse the decisions immediately, reiterating that a two‑state solution remains the only viable path to achieving a just and lasting peace.
The British remarks add to a series of international warnings urging Israel to halt unilateral settlement measures, which the UN and major world powers consider violations of international law.
