Kuwait, Feb.10(SANA) Kuwait has strongly condemned the escalating decisions and measures taken by the Israeli occupation authorities in the West Bank, calling on the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities to halt what it described as systematic violations.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to take firm and effective action against these measures.

The ministry warned that these actions undermine prospects for peace and the two-state solution, and constitute a flagrant violation of international law, international norms, and relevant UN resolutions.

The statement reaffirmed the illegality of Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories, cautioning that continued settlement expansion aims to impose new faits accompli and alter the demographic, geographic and historical character of the occupied land.

Kuwait reiterated its firm and principled support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, foremost the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.

Israeli occupation forces continue violations and attacks in the West Bank as part of settlement and annexation plans aimed at undermining the Palestinian cause, after approving new measures on Sunday intended to change the legal status of the territory and consolidate control over it.
