U.S. envoy highlights Syria-Saudi strategic deals as boost for reconstruction

Washington, Feb. 7 (SANA) U.S. Special Envoy for Syria Tom Barrack emphasized the significance of the strategic agreements signed on Saturday between Syria and Saudi Arabia. He said partnerships in aviation, infrastructure, and telecommunications could play a key role in Syria’s reconstruction efforts.

In a post on X, Barrack praised the agreements covering several critical sectors and noted that U.S. President Donald Trump believes regional stability is best achieved when countries take responsibility for their own future—a principle reflected in the Syria-Saudi partnership.

Syrian and Saudi officials signed the agreements at Damascus’ People’s Palace on Saturday, in the presence of President Ahmad al-Sharaa. The deals are aimed at strengthening telecommunications infrastructure, developing digital connectivity systems, establishing a joint Syrian-Saudi airline, and operating and expanding the Modern Syrian Cables Company.
