ANKARA, Jan. 29 (SANA) Turkey’s National Security Council reiterated on Wednesday Ankara’s continued support for efforts aimed at safeguarding Syria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national unity.

In a statement issued after a meeting chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and published by the Anadolu Agency, the council stressed the continuation of efforts to promote peace, security, and prosperity for the Syrian people.

The statement said the council reviewed political, military, economic, and social developments in 2025, discussed potential developments in 2026, and examined measures required to counter threats to national unity, particularly those posed by terrorist organizations.

On the situation in the Gaza Strip, the council affirmed that Turkey would continue providing comprehensive humanitarian assistance and contribute, in cooperation with partners, to reconstruction and the establishment of lasting peace.

The meeting also assessed developments related to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, stressing the importance of responsible action by all parties to prevent repercussions that could undermine stability in the Black Sea region. It reaffirmed Turkey’s continued efforts to help end the war and support lasting peace.

On Tuesday, President Erdogan reiterated Turkey’s support for Syria in various fields, noting that Syria’s recovery would have a positive impact on regional stability.
