Occupied Jerusalem, Jan. 15 (SANA) The Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine on Wednesday strongly condemned Israeli authorities for targeting Palestinian educational institutions, particularly Christian schools in occupied Jerusalem.
In a statement carried by the Palestinian news agency WAFA, the committee said that restrictive permit measures imposed by Israeli authorities have disrupted the educational process and deprived hundreds of students of their basic right to education.
“These practices constitute flagrant and systematic violations of rights guaranteed under international humanitarian law and international human rights law, particularly the Fourth Geneva Convention and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, and cannot be justified,” the committee said.
The committee added that such policies aim to undermine education and weaken the Palestinian presence in Jerusalem as part of a long-term plan targeting future generations.
It stressed that the continuation of these violations reflects a clear intent to restrict educational life, calling on the United Nations, human rights organizations and church institutions to take immediate and effective action to halt these practices and hold the occupying authorities accountable.
