Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor called for urgent international investigation into Israeli crimes appeared on the dead bodies of the Palestinians handed over through the Red Cross to the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza.
In a statement published on its website, the monitor said that the “horrific conditions of the dead bodies” the Ministry of Health in Gaza received from Israel” as part of the exchange deal show “clear evidences that many of them were subject to crimes of torture and brutal and deliberate abuse that caused severe suffering to their victims,” It noted that the dead bodies were delivered without identifying any of them.
” a number of them were executed after being detained, in a gross violation of international law”, the organization said stressing that these serious facts require the opening of an “urgent and independent international investigation” to uncover the circumstances of the crimes and hold those responsible accountable.
The monitor noted that there aren’t any effective fact-checking methods in Gaza to document the victims’ identities, and examine the conditions of their detention, torture and killing.
The monitor called for allowing an immediate access of independent and legal medical missions and forensic and DNA experts, and cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross to expedite the process of identifying victims and handing them over to their families.
Ceasefire agreement in Gaza came into force on October 10, after two year of devastating Israeli war that killed more 67,806 Palestinians, and injured approximately 170.066 others with grave devastation in the health sector.
