UNIFIL Demands Israel's Full Withdrawal from Southern Lebanon

Beirut , SANA – UNIFIL Spokesperson Danny al-Ghafri called for Israel’s full withdrawal from southern Lebanon, stressing that the recent attacks on the UN force constitute a violation of international law and Security Council Resolution 1701.

In a statement to Anadolu Agency, al-Ghafri described the Israeli attack on September 3 as the most dangerous since the cessation of hostilities agreement, warning of its direct impact on the mission’s freedom of movement.

He indicated UNIFIL’s readiness to support the Lebanese Army in implementing the plan to restrict the possession of weapons to the state, as it is a key partner in implementing Resolution 1701.

He emphasized that the army is deployed in most areas south of the Litani River, with the exception of those still under Israeli military presence, which requires a full withdrawal to enable Lebanese control.
