Geneva, SANA – The UN Committee on the Rights of the Child warned that the Israeli occupation’s use of starvation of Gaza children as a weapon of war threatens the death of more Palestinian children and constitutes a flagrant violation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
The UN Committee affirmed, ahead of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, that “the famine imposed by the occupation against Palestinian children has worsened in Gaza and is accelerating at a catastrophic pace,” stressing the need to “protect children from further harm and respect their rights and dignity in accordance with the Convention on the Rights of the Child.”
The Committee noted that Israel is waging a systematic starvation war and blockade against the Palestinians, cutting off humanitarian aid, calling on the world to “take immediate action to deter the Israeli occupation from its policy of starving Gaza’s children and to end the obstruction of humanitarian aid.”
