Turkey warns of escalation in Gaza, announces suspension of trade with Israel

Ankara, SANA-Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan warned that Israel’s ongoing attacks on Gaza threaten to plunge the entire region into conflict if they are not stopped.

“Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza for two years, blatantly disregarding basic human values before the eyes of the entire world,” Fidan stated, according to Anadolu Agency, during an emergency session of the Turkish Parliament on Israeli crimes in Gaza.

Fidan added: “If Israel is allowed to continue its reckless attacks in Gaza, the consequences will not be limited to Palestinians—it will ignite the entire region.”

The Turkish Foreign Minister announced the suspension of all forms of trade with Israel, the closure of Turkish airspace to Israeli aircraft, and a ban on Turkish ships docking at Israeli ports.

He also expressed his country’s rejection of any proposal involving the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza, calling it “invalid,” and affirmed that “Palestinian resistance is a struggle that will change the course of history, become a symbol for the oppressed, and shake the foundations of a crumbling system.”
