Ankara, SANA-Syrian Minister of Health Dr. Musab al-Ali signed a joint cooperation agreement with his Turkish counterpart, Kemal Memişoğlu aimed at strengthening healthcare collaboration between the two countries.

The agreement includes the operation of the Oncology Hospital in Aleppo, with a capacity of 150 beds, including 25 intensive care beds. The facility is expected to be fully equipped within 180 days.Cooperation agreement signed with Turkey to rehabilitate hospitals in Syria

It also covers support for the Dummar Cardiac Surgery Hospital in Damascus, which has 310 beds including 68 intensive care units. The hospital will be outfitted with the latest medical equipment and supported by specialized personnel, contributing to the delivery of high-quality and comprehensive cardiac surgery and care services.

This agreement is part of the Ministry of Health’s broader plan to rehabilitate, equip, and upgrade hospital infrastructure to improve the standard of healthcare services provided to citizens and to reactivate several vital medical facilities across Syria.

The healthcare sector in Syria continues to suffer from severe shortages in resources. Numerous hospitals and medical centers were destroyed by airstrikes during the defunct regime’s rule. Those still in operation face critical shortages of medical supplies and equipment, exacerbated by the corruption of the previous era and international sanctions imposed in response to the regime’s crimes.
