Health Minister, EU delegation discuss boosting cooperation in health sector

Damascus-SANA Minister of Health, Dr. Musab al-Ali, discussed with a delegation from the European Union Mission in Syria, headed by Anna Pierce, Head of the Development Unit in Syria, ways to enhance and expand cooperation in the health sector.

During the meeting, Minister al-Ali stressed the importance of strengthening relations with EU countries, which have supported the Syrian people’s revolution and received millions of Syrian refugees displaced by the war waged by the former regime.

He reviewed the health situation in Syria, the negative impacts caused by the destruction of its infrastructure as a result of the war, and the inability to rehabilitate it and secure the necessary medical equipment and technologies due to sanctions imposed on various sectors in Syria.

For her part, Pierce affirmed that efforts are being made to intensify discussions within EU countries to lift sanctions on Some sectors in Syria, noting that the visit aims to identify Syria’s needs to rehabilitate the health sector’s infrastructure.
