Hama, SANA- The General Authority of Hama National Hospital has completed infrastructure rehabilitation for the intensive care unit (ICU), which had deteriorated due to neglect by the deposed regime.

The project was carried out in partnership with the Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS) as part of a development plan aimed at enhancing the hospital’s capacity and critical medical services.

Dr. Mahmoud Mukhaybar, Director of the Authority, told SANA reporter that the unit had suffered from significant technical degradation, adversely impacting its performance, especially given its direct connection with all other medical departments.

He added, “Thanks to the strategic partnership with SAMS, comprehensive maintenance of the infrastructure has been completed. The unit now has a capacity of 10 beds and meets international standards.”

Dr. Mukhaybar continued, “The remaining beds and medical equipment are set to be delivered in the coming weeks, enabling the unit to operate at full capacity.”

He also highlighted that the collaboration with SAMS extends beyond this project, with future plans potentially covering the rehabilitation of neurological and cardiac departments. These initiatives will significantly enhance the hospital’s role as a regional center for specialized care.
