Damascus, Aug. 4 (SANA) Health Minister Musab al-Ali met on Tuesday with a delegation from the World Health Organization, led by WHO Representative in Syria Caroline Clarinval, to discuss strengthening cooperation and developing joint mechanisms to support the health sector and improve program efficiency in the coming period.

The meeting, held at the ministry‘s headquarters in Damascus, addressed strengthening coordination, building a shared understanding of tasks, unifying vision on implementation procedures and mobilizing resources for health projects, according to the ministry statement on Telegram.

Monitoring implementation, sustainable results

The two sides discussed preparing a matrix to monitor project implementation and measure their impact to enhance the effectiveness of field missions and achieve more sustainable results, the statement said.

Al-Ali stressed the importance of joint work in line with current priorities, directing support toward the needs of central directorates and vital health sectors to build a strong and sustainable health system and improve the quality of services provided to citizens.

Clarinval affirmed WHO‘s readiness to accelerate work and response, and provide necessary technical and implementation support to achieve shared goals.

On July 16, the Health Ministry discussed with WHO the preparation of a joint and sustainable action plan to address gaps and improve the quality of medical services toward achieving universal health coverage, following field visits by WHO teams to health centers and hospitals across the provinces.

The meeting is part of ongoing cooperation between Syria and WHO, which has been supporting Syria’s health sector, with the organization playing a key role in responding to health emergencies and strengthening the health system during the current recovery phase.
