Deir Ezzor, April 11 (SANA) Governor Ghassan al-Sayyed Ahmad met Baraa al-Samoudi, country director of the Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS), to discuss strengthening the healthcare sector in Deir Ezzor province.
During the meeting on Friday, the officials discussed SAMS efforts to advance the health sector in the province, including equipping the pathology laboratory and the neurosurgery department at the National Hospital.
The SAMS director said a cardiac catheterization unit has been secured for Deir Ezzor National Hospital, and work is underway in coordination with the provincial Health Directorate to begin rehabilitating the cardiology department in the coming days.
Founded in 1998 by Syrian-American physicians, SAMS is a non-profit organization providing healthcare and medical education in Syria.
