Damascus, March 30 (SANA) The Syrian Insurance Company signed a health insurance contract with the Syrian Telecommunications Company covering around 11,500 employees, in the presence of Minister of Finance Mohammed Yisr Barnieh and Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdul Salam Haykal.
The contract provides in-hospital coverage with no co-payment and outpatient coverage that includes doctor visits, radiology, laboratory tests and medication, within specified financial ceilings.
Barnieh said the agreement was concluded based on competitive standards without preferential treatment, calling for similar models across public institutions to enhance efficiency, governance and service quality. He added that the government is working to reform the medical insurance system, including expanding coverage for public sector workers and studying the provision of basic healthcare services for retirees.

Haykal said the agreement supports efforts to improve the work environment and employee welfare, stressing that the relationship with the insurance corporation is based on clear commercial principles aimed at ensuring competitiveness and securing the best services. He added that the telecommunications sector is undergoing development to improve infrastructure, investment and service quality.

Director General of the Syrian Insurance Company Mohammad Amin Ghazzal said the contract offers comprehensive coverage, including hospital care, outpatient services, elective surgeries, cancer treatment, medical eyewear and workplace injuries, within defined limits.

Director of the Syrian Telecommunications Company Ghassan Akkash noted that the contract is managed professionally through clear conditions and ongoing monitoring by a specialized committee to address employee concerns and ensure compliance.

The agreement reflects ongoing efforts to improve employee benefits, enhance institutional performance and develop the public sector’s service framework.
