Deir Ezzor, SANA-A mass grave was uncovered , on Sunday, in the al-Rawwad Residential Villas Project area, west of Deir Ezzor city.
During his inspection of the grave site, Deir Ezzor Governor Ghassan Sayyed Ahmad asked the Internal Security Forces to conduct the necessary investigations and the Health Directorate to supervise the recovery of the bodies and follow up on their identities.
A Civil Defense source said to a SANA reporter that the grave was discovered by the governorate’s Criminal Security Branch and Civil Defense teams immediately took all necessary measures, and that work is ongoing.
The source expected the presence of scattered graves and bodies in the same area due to its proximity to security checkpoints belonging to the former regime forces, which had terrorized residents for 14 years, detaining and then killing them and concealing their bodies.
The people of Deir Ezzor were subjected to brutal massacres at the hands of the former regime forces, who concealed their bodies in mass graves, whether in residential neighborhoods or on the outskirts of the province.
