Damascus University advances up to the 617 position in Webometrics Ranking

Damascus, SANA- Damascus University has moved up to the 617 position in the first edition 2025 of Webometrics Ranking of world Universities, ranking 2424 out of 32,000 universities and research centers in the ranking system.

The university stated on its website that this is the first time that a Syrian university has been among the top 8 percent of universities worldwide, according to this classification.

Webometrics ranking was based on three main standers for classifying universities around the world: “transparency, research excellence, and impact.”

It is the only scientific and cognitive classification in which all Syrian universities and research centers are present. ‏

It is noteworthy that for the first time, Damascus University entered into the Times Higher Education World University Rankings on January 22nd, to be the first Syrian university to enter into this part of the ranking after achieving the conditions of the scientific, cognitive, and educational threshold.
