Damascus, April 30 (SANA) More than 3,200 pharmacists and 30 lecturers from Syria and several Arab and foreign countries are participating in the Syrian Scientific Pharmaceutical Forum in Damascus, which was launched on Thursday.

The forum is discussing the latest global scientific developments and achievements in the field of pharmacy and the pharmaceutical industry, aiming to promote scientific research and pharmaceutical innovation.

This three-day forum, held at the National Library in Damascus, is a specialized scientific platform that brings together pharmacists, academics, researchers, and pharmacy students to discuss the latest developments in pharmacy and the pharmaceutical industry.

The forum features eight scientific tracks, including specialized lectures, panel discussions, workshops, and scientific debates, in addition to an exhibition showcasing participant pharmaceutical companies.

Abdo Mahli, Director of Laboratories and Quality at the General Authority for Ports and Customs, told SANA that the Syrian Scientific Pharmaceutical Forum serves as a vital platform for exchanging expertise and transferring the latest global developments to the national pharmaceutical industry.

He emphasized the necessity of strengthening the link between academy and practice to produce highly effective medications, particularly cancer and autoimmune drugs, which are currently in short supply in the local market.

Dr. Muhammad Al-Othman, Head of the Department of Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology at Damascus University, highlighted the importance of the Pharmaceutical Forum as a platform that brings together pharmacists from various universities, government institutions, and pharmaceutical companies, as well as students, to learn about the latest developments and advancements in pharmaceutical sciences at both the local and international levels.

Introducing Artificial Intelligence into Clinical Pharmacy

Dr. Firas Hanandeh, rector of Ajloun National University and Director of the Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation Center at the Association of Arab Universities, explained that this participation in Damascus Pharmaceutical Scientific Forum aims to enhance cooperation in the fields of artificial intelligence and digital transformation.

He praised the qualitative and advanced development achieved by the pharmaceutical and food industries in Syria, which he said rival international standards.

The Syrian Scientific Pharmaceutical Forum commenced its activities earlier today at the National Library in Damascus, under the motto “We Meet to Innovate… We Research to Advance.” Organized by the Syrian Pharmacists Syndicate.

The forum runs from April 30 to May 2 and is accompanied by an exhibition featuring more than 40 local and international companies showcasing the latest advancements in the world of pharmacy and pharmaceutical industries.
