Damascus, March 27 (SANA) – Damascus University is launching a specialized training program focused on psychological trauma care in cooperation with the German-Syrian organization DSV, officials said.
The program, organized by the university’s Counseling and Psychological Support Unit and the Faculty of Education, aims to strengthen the professional skills of mental health specialists and provide evidence-based approaches for dealing with trauma.
It will target psychologists, academic staff and graduates in related fields, as well as selected postgraduate students.
According to officials, the seven-month program will include about 200 hours of theoretical and practical training in addition to supervised casework under the guidance of specialists.
Organizers said the initiative aims to prepare qualified professionals capable of addressing psychological trauma and supporting recovery in communities affected by years of conflict.
Damascus University established its Counseling and Psychological Support Unit in 2023 to provide free mental health services to students and staff, with plans to expand its activities in the coming period.
