Damascus, Feb. 20 (SANA) Dr. Ibrahim Mahmoud al-Gharibi, a Syrian inventor from Damascus University’s Faculty of Science, won a silver medal at the 16th International Invention Fair in the Middle East (IIFME 2026), held in Kuwait from February 8 to 11.
Dr. al-Gharibi made a breakthrough in the medical field with his invention, the “Nano-Dressing for Diabetic Foot and Pressure Ulcers.” Damascus University announced the achievement in a statement on Thursday.
He was honored by the League of Arab States, represented by the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development, for the Nano-Dressing, which provides an advanced treatment that accelerates healing of chronic wounds and improves healthcare quality.
The fair featured more than 213 inventors from 30 Arab and foreign countries, amid fierce competition.
The event is among the world’s most prominent specialized fairs, bringing together inventors, researchers, and investors to present the latest innovations in technology, energy, medicine, agriculture, and water purification.
