Minister of Education with Japanese chargé d’affaires

Damascus, Jan. 26 (SANA) Syrian Minister of Education Mohammad Abdulrahman Turko on Monday discussed prospects for strengthening educational cooperation with Japan’s chargé d’affaires in Damascus, Tsujii Akihiro, and a delegation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

During the meeting at the ministry headquarters, the two sides reviewed projects previously implemented by JICA in Syria’s education sector, as well as future initiatives under consideration, with a focus on developing vocational education as a cornerstone for building youth capacities and preparing them for the labor market, alongside expanding digital learning, and benefiting from Japan’s advanced experience in electronic education and digital platforms to enhance the quality of learning in Syria.

The meeting came as part of a series of diplomatic and educational engagements by the ministry of education as it is developing a plan that aims to enhance education system in Syria and to update syllabus in different educational levels as well as working on capacity-building for teachers.
