Production wheel currently turning in 960 Facilities at Sheikh Najjar Industrial City

Aleppo, SANA- Sheikh Najjar Industrial City in Aleppo Governorate is a primary hub supporting the Syrian industrial sector across various fields. Currently, the production wheel is turning in 960 facilities within the city, while the number of facilities in the preparation phase has reached 100.

Among the currently producing facilities are 18 chemical plants, 160 food and engineering facilities, and 44 textile facilities. The number of allocated industrial plots has reached 4,670, of which 1,357 are under construction.

Director-General of Sheikh Najjar City, Engineer Shahhoud Abdul Aziz, explained in a statement to SANA that the Ministry of Economy and Foreign Trade, in cooperation with the administrations of industrial cities and zones, is keen to provide facilities to encourage investment in industrial cities.

Work is underway to prepare a draft investment system for cities that meets the needs of industry and its development. Efforts have also been made to reduce the applicable financial and tax burdens, provide legal, financial, and technical support and consultations to investors to serve their projects, and facilitate the transfer of machinery from outside Syria to industrial cities, according to Shahhoud.

Regarding the expected investment volume for this year in the city, Abdul Aziz revealed that it could reach 300 percent as a minimum estimate, based on the increasing demand for allocation and construction requests.

He noted that a number of industrialists have begun renovating their facilities in the industrial city in preparation for restarting operations in the coming months, noting that the largest proportion of currently producing industries in Sheikh Najjar City is in textiles.

The Director-General of Sheikh Najjar Industrial City described the infrastructure in the industrial city as “dilapidated” in terms of the electrical network, transformer stations, water pumping stations, and rainwater, industrial, and saline drainage, in addition to roads that require maintenance.

Abdul Aziz clarified that the meeting of Minister of Economy Basil Abdul Hannan with the industrialists in Sheikh Najjar was fruitful, and obstacles hindering the production wheel were discussed, including electricity prices and linking them to prices adopted in neighboring countries, in line with exchange rate fluctuations.
