Syrian, Jordanian Free Zone resumes operation work on Monday

Amman, SANA- Syrian-Jordanian Free Zone resumed operation work on Monday.

This move came following a meeting of the General Assembly of the Syrian-Jordanian Free Zone Company in the Jordanian capital, Amman on Sunday, bringing together the Jordanian Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Yarub Qudah and the Chairman of Syria’s General Authority for Land and Sea Ports Qutaiba Al-Badawi.

Both sides discussed the improving the zone’s operations, strengthening the Syrian-Jordanian border Jaber-Nassib crossing and facilitating trade and investment.

The two countries agreed to extend the working hours at the border crossing, transitioning to 24-hour operations starting in early February.

They also discussed activating the free trade agreement between Syria and Jordan to increase trade volumes, address challenges facing the private sector in both countries, reducing fees imposed on transit trucks passing through both countries.

Al-Badawi thanked the Jordanian side for flexibility and serious desire to work together and enhance cooperation in all areas presented.
