Damascus, March 31 (SANA) – Syrian officials inspected the al-Yaarubiyah border crossing with Iraq in Hasakah province on Tuesday as part of preparations to reopen the crossing following ongoing rehabilitation work.
Khaled al-Barrad, deputy head of the General Authority for Land and Sea Ports, led a delegation of senior officials during the visit to review maintenance and infrastructure upgrades aimed at restoring the facility’s operational readiness.
The delegation examined renovation work carried out by the authority’s maintenance department, including upgrades to service facilities, internal roads and cargo yards, as well as improvements to passenger and customs halls and technical equipment needed to manage border traffic.
The authority said the rehabilitation work is expected to be completed and operations at the crossing could resume at the beginning of May.
Reopening the crossing is expected to support trade activity and strengthen economic links with Iraq, while facilitating travel for civilians using the border route.
The General Authority for Land and Sea Ports said it continues implementing plans to rehabilitate border crossings and improve operational capacity in line with current requirements and growing cross-border movement.
