Damascus, Aug. 17 (SANA) The price of 21-caratgold rose by SYP 100 per gram in the Syrian market Monday compared with Sunday’s rate.

According to a bulletin issued by the General Authority for Precious Metals Management, one gram of 21-carat gold was priced at SYP 16,200 ($132.79) for selling and SYP 15,900 ($130.33) for buying.

The selling price of one gram of 18-carat gold reached SYP 13,900 ($113.93), while the buying price stood at SYP 13,600 ($111.48).

Gold was trading at $4,397 per ounce on the international market.

Gold prices edged higher, supported by a weaker US dollar and US economic data that reduced expectations of a Federal Reserve rate hike next month, Reuters reported. Spot gold rose 0.3% to $4,388.62 an ounce, while the dollar index slipped 0.1%.

Established on February 12, 2025, the General Authority for Precious Metals Management regulates and develops Syria’s gold and precious metals sector and oversees gold pricing through provincial jewellers’ associations.
